Hi! I just watched your video, followed the steps and none of them solved my problem. My wp-config.php didn't have the line "define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true);" so I wrote it (correctly) and still didn't work. I'm using a sub-domain and in my primary domain I don't have any issues. Please help me. Thanks.
September 23, 2020 @ 6:34 am
that worked. had to change the lines in wp-config.php from true to false – thanks for the video – I've been looking for a solution to this issue for days

Thank you, thank you so much for making this video! Someone hacked into my WP, added users / sites / posts and changed this so I couldn't update or add plugins. Such a headache, but you really helped me out here.

Be aware that setting 'MULTISITE' = true in your wp-config.php will cause the same problem. Setting it to 'false' fixed it for me.
September 23, 2020 @ 6:34 am
thank you so much.. editing define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true);
define('DISALLOW_FILE_MODS', true); worked for me.. appreciate that.. bless you

Extra note:
At the bottom of edit page on C panel, I saw this:
/** Sets up WordPress bars and included files. */ require_once ABSPATH. 'wp-settings.php';

OMG it worked!!!! I have multiple public.html folders, so you must select under your the domain you are having trouble! I did have the 2 commands set to TRUE. I just can't understand who and why did this, because I am the only editor…
